Modern Romantics is a Canadian bookshop for people who read romance loudly and proudly. Special edition book boxes, monthly blind dates, a book club and bookish goodies from small Canadian makers, all in one place, and zero shame about any of it.
How it started
Modern Romantics began as a small online bookshop with one goal: to get more great love stories into more hands. It grew into seasonal book boxes with hand-sprayed edges, monthly blind dates, a book club, and a community of Romantics who never have to explain why they love what they love.
Meet Ayesha
Romance is about hope, connection and happy endings, and I’ve always believed that’s worth celebrating out loud. My love affair with romance novels started when I was a teenager and never left, so I built a shop that celebrates it.
Every box, blind date and book club pick at Modern Romantics starts with one question: would my Romantics fall in love with this? If it isn’t a hell yes, it doesn’t make the cut.
This is a proudly small, BIPOC-owned and woman-owned Canadian business. When you order, you’re not padding a CEO’s yacht fund. You’re supporting a girl with a romance novel in one hand and a shipping label in the other, plus the Canadian makers and artists whose work fills every box.When I’m not curating boxes or chatting books with you, I’m usually surrounded by my two dogs and my cat, or out exploring with my husband. Fun fact: I’m an athletic therapist by trade and have worked with some of Canada’s national teams.
